Boys & Girls Club of Collin County
BGCCC Frisco Building Campaign
Commitment: $250,000
Boys & Girls Club of Collin County has requested funding to support the construction/build-out of the BGCCC Municipal Center Complex as a new location for the BGCCC program in Frisco. 300 children per day will use the facility after the completion of the project and will participate in affordable after school and summer programs. 85% of families receiving services are at or below 80% of medium income and many are single parents or two working parent families with no adult supervision available at home.

CITY House
My Friend’s House Children’s Bedroom Wing
Commitment: $500,000
CITY House requests funding to support the construction of My Friend’s House emergency shelter, specifically the Children’s Bedroom Wing, the infant, toddler and children living and sleeping quarters. It is anticipated that 300 children ages newborn to nine who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, abandonment or homelessness will benefit annually from MFH emergency shelter program.

Children’s Medical Center Legacy
Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and Star Children’s Charity Endowment Fund
Commitment: $351,122
Children’s Medical Center has requested funding to provide medical equipment and furnishings for the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Legacy and to establish the Star Children’s Charity Endowment Fund, a fund that will provide the life-saving medical care into perpetuity for uninsured children who come to the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s Legacy. It is anticipated that 2,000 children living with cancer and blood disorders will benefit annually.

Crossroads Family Services
Children’s Domestic Violence Therapy
Commitment: $100,000
Crossroads Family Services (formerly known as Family Services of Plano) has requested funding to expand their therapy program for children who witness domestic violence. Funds will be used to employ therapists. It is expected that 520 children will directly benefit from this request. Each child will have access to a full array of services that will be tailored to meet their individual needs, including, but not limited to, individual therapy, play therapy, family therapy, comprehensive case management, personal advocacy, as well as crisis intervention.

Plano Children’s Medical Clinic
“Get Off the Couch and Play” and “Let’s Get Physical” Programs
Commitment: $127,800
The Plano Children’s Medical Clinic has requested funding to continue to provide medical care to the children of Collin County by enhancing the “Get Off the Couch and Play” Program and “Let’s Get Physical Program”, to expand service and to continue to offer patients access to State Medicaid Caseworkers. The clinic provides free medical care for Collin County children who have no insurance or who are on Medicaid or CHIP. More than 15,000 children will benefit from the clinic in 2008.

Presbyterian Hospital of Plano
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) Program
Commitment: $67,130
Presbyterian Hospital of Plano and its Collin County SANE Program has requested funding for the forensic nursing for childhood sexual assault survivors. Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) are RN’s who are a combination of both highly trained medical professionals and legal investigators who are helping to humanize the treatment of children and adults who are attacked. Over 200 children will be seen by the SANE nurses in 2008.

Samaritan Inn
Homeless Children’s Program
Commitment: $75,000
Samaritan Inn requests funding for their children’s program, which offers educational support and addresses the psychosocial needs of homeless children in Collin County. The program will serve approximately 200 children age birth to 17. The program ensures that every child resident attends school and tutoring, as needed. Educational needs, recreational and self esteem building activities, counseling, healthcare coverage and transportation to medical appointments will be covered.
